High Thinking
'Bhumi' is the Sanskrit word for 'Mother Earth'. In Vedic culture it is understood that we have seven mothers, and certainly Earth is one of them. Our mothers sustain and nurture us. 'Vidya' refers to knowledge or learning, and peetha means 'place', so "Bhumi Vidyapeeth" is a place to learn about all aspects of Sustainable Community Development. Certainly foundational to a truly sustainable community is its harmonious, loving connection to Mother Earth.
Our farm, forest, community and the entire ecosystem of our valley is our classroom and campus. Come and learn with us, learn from us, and I am sure we will also learn from you. Besides an on-going 'work-and-learn' mentorship program we conduct workshops, seminars and related cultural and spiritual events.
